COUNCIL-MANAGER FORM OF GOVERNMENT

The City of Jasper operates under the Council–Manager form of government. In this system, the City Council—elected by the voters—sets policy direction for the community. The Council then appoints a City Manager, a professionally trained administrator, to oversee the day-to-day operations of city affairs and ensure that Council policies are implemented effectively.

The City Council is responsible for making policy decisions and voting on all legislative and quasi-judicial matters as authorized by state or federal law.
